Today we sat down and got through most of our list of calling people.  If you didn't get a call or a voicemail from one of us today please let us know of any questions that you might have on this blog.  Here is what we covered:

  • Shots/Malaria Meds – Please make sure that you have checked out the CDC website for what you need for Uganda and get them done ASAP if you have not already.
  • Passports/Proof of Insurance – DO NOT FORGET THESE!!!
  • Skirts – Please make sure you have a few of these to bring with you, and they MUST be knee length or longer.  Its a honor thing, and we want to honor the culture.  Our host will let us know when we need to where what.

Some questions that others asked that you might want to know the answer to…

Bathing suits?  We will probably use them at debrief or off days, so go ahead and bring them.  Make sure you follow the suit regulations that was given on the packing list.

How much spending cash? $100-$150 should be MORE then enough.  We will exchange it when we get into country.

Does our money need to be new?  They haven't had problems with this in the past in Uganda so you shouldn't need money that is new.  However it wouldn't hurt to have money in the 2000s at least to be safe.

Carry-on Size?  Check www.klm.com for baggage information.  Check your airline provider as well.  They are all pretty universal.

Lengths of shorts/skirts?  Again, to the knee.

Where are we staying?  We will be in a house with beds and mattresses.  So if you were planning on bringing a mattress pad or blow up mattress you can leave that at home.  It will also be warm at night, so if you want some more space, you should be able to leave out your sleeping bag.  Its up to you.  You can replace it with a sheet and a blanket if you would like…thats what I am taking.

Communication?  We will have internet access, and you will contact your parents once a week.  If you haven't heard of it, skype is a WONDERFUL way to make overseas calls for VERY cheap.  Check it out!

Heres my number if you have any questions regarding the trip.  Please do not hesitate to call!

Finally, this blog will not be the blog that your parents and supporters will be looking at.  Your parents have probably received an email regarding this but just in case here is the address.
