Thats me on the right…and no I'm not talking about the balding man over my left shoulder!
Hello from the glorious state of Kansas, and the small town of Emporia (which for me is a metropolis compared to the much smaller Perry that I grew up in.) My name is Kasandra Williams, I am 25 years old, and as you have probably guessed by my title, I am a teacher. A music teacher to be exact, of 285 wonderful little cuties, K-4. I am currently in my first year of teaching and though it has been one of the most challenging things I have ever done in my life, I am enjoying the place that the Lord has placed me in this season of my life.
As I said before, I grew up in a small town called Perry Kansas on a goat farm, yep a goat farm. Nothing beats the country life! Open air and bleating goats, what can get better than that!
I caught the travel/missions bug when I went on my first international missions trip to Guatemala in 2006. Since then I have traveled to Kenya, Africa, and led two trips to Cebu, Phillipines. Now I have the amazing opportunity and privilege of leading you all to the beautiful country of Uganda, and I am super excited to see what the Lord has in store for all of us.
So here is a little bit about myself:
Favorite Food: Depends on my mood, but it would probably have to be my grandmas cherry pie with whipped cream. You can't beat that!
Favorite Color: I'm definitly a purple fan, and not sissy redish purple, but deep dark indigo.
Favorite Place to Be: That would have to be the theater, whether on stage or in the audience with a friend.
Favorite Outdoor Activity: Playing with my dog Bella Mae
Favorite thing to do inside: Either playing my guitar/piano, or watching movies
Weirdest thing I have ever eaten: That would most definitely have to be Balut in the Philippines last summer. Google it…beware those with weak stomachs.
Best Book I've read Lately: 'Reedeming Love' by Francine Rivers
Favorite person to be around: My 3 year old neice Devin. She brings more joy to my life then I can stand!
Strangest thing I have ever done: Kissed a Giraffe in Kenya. Fun times.
Bucket List item I would like to have happen soon: Sky Diving
Favorite Scripture Verse: Lamentations 3:21-23 – Such a great scripture of hope!
Well, there are some random thoughts for you to chew on about me, and many more to come! I am excited to experience this journey with you all and so happy to be going back to Africa. They warn you that you will leave a bit of your heart there, and it is so true! So it will be like reuniting with a bit of myself, even though i'm heading to a different country this time.
Feel free to ask me any questions about my life, I really am an open book! God Bless!!!
